High School Graduations Are Here! Order Today!

Dear Friend,
High school graduations are here!
One of the greatest, most exciting, and scary times in a young person's life is high school graduation.
Some successfully navigate this transistion and others struggle.
Working in high school and college ministry for over ten years, I saw many young people "graduate with God" and others graduate away from God. There has to be a better way...
There are so many new opportunities, friendships, tests, challenges, and temptations for young people to deal with, I wanted to help them with tools for successfully navigating life after high school.
It's why I wrote not one, but two graduation gifts books.
In Graduating with God: A Guidebook for Life after High School and Whadd'ya Gonna Do? 25 Secrets for Getting a Life, I offer humor, engaging stories, relevant scripture, and practical action steps to help graduates courageously face the inevitable faith tests and challenges in their future.
In both books, relevant topics include...
• Being Who God Wants You to Be • Feeling Lonely after High School • Developing Deeper Friendships • Managing Fear, Stress, Anxiety & Depression • Figuring Out Your Finances • Being the Authentic You • God’s Word is the Best Guidebook • Growing in your relationship with God after high school • Affirming your spiritual identity in Christ • Daring to pursue your dream • Discovering and developing your life purpose • Writing your personal mission statement • Understanding your spiritual gifts • Partnering with your parents • Seeking the help of wise mentors
Each book is available in hardcover gift, paperback and ebook. Buy both books and save with BUNDLES.

Inspiration, strength, and encouragement. It's why I write and I hope your graduate will be encouraged.

Granddaughter Date Night with Monroe
Dear Friend,
Spring is here and so are birthdays!
My wife, Krista, and I were barely home from visiting our daughter and son-in-law in Spain, when we made a long overdue trip up to Idaho to visit our four grandchildren.
Tomorrow my oldest granddaughter, Sophia, turns eleven! It seems like we were just celebrating her tenth birthday.
Janae (my daughter and Sophia's mom) says, "The older you get, it's like a spinning toilet paper roll. The less paper and it just keeps spinning faster and faster!"
So true!
Winter's shackles have finally broken. Spring has arrived in Idaho and so have the gorgeous blooms! I love the white cherry blossoms, the violet-blue periwinkle flowers, and the canary yellow clusters of Oregon Grape. (Keep scrolling to see my latest photos!)
Many of you saw my photos of last year's huckleberry bumper crop and I'm hoping for a great new season this year.
As much as I love today's flower blossoms and summer's huckleberries, my nemesis are Idaho's weeds. Tomorrow, I will participate in hand-to-hand combat as I join Janae to destroy thousands of dandelions.
Idaho has far more weeds than potatoes and dandelion salads have yet to catch on.
Sounds like the spiritual life, doesn't it? There are so many weeds for us to contend with. I wrote about this battle between life-giving seeds and choking weeds in Living Fully Loved: Cultivating Curiosity, Creativity, and Wonder as the Beloved of God.
God’s grace in us is not in vain. His grace is working in and through us every day. Because of Christ’s perfect work on the cross, God sees us whole and holy. On this earth, we will always have seeds and weeds. Make peace with that tension.
Focus on the blossoms and seeds; not the weeds.
You and I, one day at a time, have the opportunity to cooperate with God's Spirit and cultivate a fruitful life worth living.
Last, if you've been encouraged by my weekly newsletter, I'd be honored if you forwarded this on to encourage a friend.
Hoping you encounter some beautiful blossoms today,
Joey PS: I wrote two high school graduation gift books to encourage and inspire young people in this important life transition. ORDER TODAY to make sure your books arrive on time. Both my books come in gift hardcover, paperback, and ebook. (More details below!)

Back from the Fatherland!
Back from the Fatherland!
Dear Friend,
If you read my last newsletter, you caught a glimpse of my travels to Ireland and Barcelona to visit my daughter and son-in-law.
Krista (my wife) and I arrived home last Wednesday after a twelve-hour flight and just now are shaking off jet lag.
During our trip overseas, I was caught off guard by the unexpected convergence of art, faith, and history that I hope will be an encouragement to you today.
Many of you know that I am the founder of an arts non-profit ministry here in Southern California, named The Grove Center for the Arts & Ministry. Visiting Ireland and Barcelona was a needed reminder of the purpose and role of art throughout the ages.
Here's why...
In Dublin, we visited the Book of Kells, written around 800 A.D. The Book of Kells — the 4 Gospels written in Latin with intricate Celtic calligraphy. An amazing, artistic depiction of the enduring Word of God.
On the Aran Island of Inismor, we visited the ruins of the Seven Churches, which are two churches and a monastery built between the fifth and eighth centuries. A place of ancient Christian pilgrimage.
Throughout Ireland, we were reminded of St. Patrick, who went from captivity as a seventeen-year-old to a calling from God to bring the Gospel to Ireland. St. Patrick is not the leprechaun figure many people make him out to be. He was a devout Christ follower who built churches, monasteries, healed the sick and fed the poor.
At the Picasso Museum in Barcelona, I walked through 16 rooms of one man's artistic journey and commitment to his craft.
Krista and I strolled through Antoni Gaudí's Casa Batlló, one of his many architectural wonders. Highly recommended! Gaudi once wrote, "The straight line belongs to Man. The curved line belongs to God."
Love that...
Last, we visited Gaudí's Sagrada Familia Cathedral, which was started in 1882 and is still under construction! Looking up at the huge yellow cranes, hearing grinders, and pounding, it was a fitting reminder that God's Church is still under construction!
All these places, sights, and more were a powerful testament of God at work through art, faith, and His people throughout history. I've had the privilege of working with artists of all disciplines for almost twenty-five years. At The Grove, we remind ourselves why we work with artists... Because artists influence everything.
It's why I write books and screenplays... stories that I hope bring beauty, truth and goodness into your life.
I want my books and workshops to be as accessible to you as possible. To help you save a few dollars, I'm offering a 15% Spring Special for your entire shopping cart. Use COUPON CODE: Spring15
Wishing you a beautiful week,
Joey

Top of the mornin’, to you!
Top of the mornin’, to you!
Dear Friend,
Hello from Ireland!
It's a rainy morning on the Dingle Peninsula in the deep south of Ireland. My wife, Krista, and I arrived in Ireland a week ago to meet my daughter, Ellie, and son-in-law, Evan, who are living in Barcelona, Spain, as she completes her graduate work in landscape architecture.
During this Passion Week anticipating Easter, coming to Ireland has been especially meaningful since both sides of my family come from counties Clare, Roscommon and Cork. (I'm 97.8% Irish…)
In Dublin, we visited St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the Book of Kells, the dramatic and exquisite calligraphy of the four Gospels written in Latin around 800 A.D.
The life of Patrick and the beauty of the Word of God, plus Ireland’s wonder-filled landscapes have inspired my heart, soul and mind.
Contrary to common myths and stereotypes, St. Patrick is not the Irish-jigging, lucky leprechaun many make him out to be.
After after being captured into slavery and forced to work in Ireland, Patrick had a dramatic conversion to Christ as a teenager. He escaped back to England where God called him in a dream to return to Ireland to preach the Good News of Jesus Christ.
St. Patrick spread the Gospel, started churches and monasteries, healed the sick, and fed the poor.
Imagine the goodness, beauty, and kindness of God flowing through one person like that!
From the natural beauty of the Aran Islands to the rolling Irish hillsides to the rugged Cliffs of Moher, I’ve had to stop and ask myself, “Am I living in awe and wonder enough?”
In the spirit of St. Patrick’s love for Christ and others, I hope this Passion Week of Good Friday and coming Easter you will cultivate a deeper sense of wonder, awe, and inspiration for how deeply loved you are by God.
We have one life to live here on earth, so let us live in love and live in God.
Wishing you a fine Irish blessing,
Joey
